Японські професори з геополітики, міжнародна група адвокатів (Олексій Ясюнецький з Житомира та Акілле Кампанья із Сан Марино) зустрілися у Бучі для продовження роботи фіксування воєнних злочинів та спілкування із жертвами російської окупації. Наукова співробітниця Національного музею космонавтики Олена Галагуза як волонтер допомагає адвокатам перекладати з іноземної мови та здійснювати медійний супровід.
У домі Ірини Гаврилюк згадували страшні події і обговорювали долю місцевих людей, які негідно чинили під час окупації. Чоловіка, брата і двох песиків Ірини вбили росіяни (у той час вона перебувала в іншій області), зруйнували дім, який потім відновлювали за сприяння небайдужих. На другому поверсі будинку Ірини мешкали окупанти. Після того, як вони пішли, жінка викинула всі їхні речі. Шокувала розповідь про містянина, який, за словами місцевих, був мародером. Якось він сказав Ірині записати його номер телефону. Коли вона ввела усі цифри, на екрані її телефону засвітився номер загиблого брата. Незабаром цей чоловік, який забрав сім-картку брата Ірини, повісився. І це не єдиний подібний епізод у Бучі.
Також були зустрічі оффрекордз. Хто мав справу з окупантами, втратили не тільки фізичне, а й ментальне здоров’я. Але усі прагнуть добитися правосуддя. Олексій Ясюнецький та Акілле Кампанья подали 100 заяв жертв воєнних злочинів до Міжнародного кримінального суду. Але треба бути реалістами, що процес встановлення справедливості може затягнутися на роки.
«Кожна така фіксація є цвяхом у труну путіна. Я не втомлююся повторювати цю істину, адже підписи жертв воєнних злочинів росії під кожною формою, яку ми подаємо і реєструємо у Міжнародному кримінальному суді, уже є частиною історії на шляху до засудження рашистського режиму», – каже адвокат Олексій Ясюнецький.
The world is still reeling from Russian atrocities in Bucha
Japanese professors of geopolitics and an international group of lawyers (Olexiy Yasyunetsky from Zhytomyr and Achille Campagna from San Marino) met in Bucha to continue their work of recording war crimes and communicating with victims of the Russian occupation. I’ve been a volunteer to help the lawyers with foreign language translation and media support since summer 2022.
In Iryna Havryliuk’s home, we recalled the terrible events and discussed the fate of local people who had behaved unworthily during the occupation. Iryna’s husband, brother and two dogs were killed by the Russians (she was in another region at the time), and her house was destroyed, which was later rebuilt with the help of those who cared about her. The occupants lived on the second floor of Iryna’s house. After they left, she threw away all their belongings. The story of a local man who, according to the locals, was a looter, was shocking. He once told Iryna to write down his phone number. When she entered all the digits, the number of her dead brother appeared on her phone screen. Soon after, the man who took Iryna’s brother’s SIM card, committed a suicide. And this is not the only such episode in Bucha.
There were also off-records meetings. Those who dealt with the occupiers lost not only their physical but also their mental health. Everyone wants to get justice. Olexiy Yasyunetsky and Achille Campagna have filed 100 war crimes victim complaints to the International Criminal Court. But we must be realistic that the process of establishing justice can take years.
“Each record is a nail into putin’s coffin. I do not get tired of repeating this truth, because the signatures of the victims of Russia’s war crimes under each form that we submit and register at the International Criminal Court is already a part of history on the way to condemning the russist regime,” says a lawyer Olexiy Yasyunetsky.
